Sweet satan, I would totally turn on the TV to watch the convention if I could see the mentioned body slammed Al Gore effigie! I just hope the poor guy does not suffer any FBI trouble for his effort. They can be pretty unforgiving about innocent "threats".
I don't even watch wrestling, it just sounds lively. posted by thirteen at 9:07 AM on July 31, 2000
By "poor guy" I of course meant this "The Rock" fella. posted by thirteen at 9:09 AM on July 31, 2000
This is brilliant! The WWF targets the perfect cognitive demographic for the Repulican party.
A tall glass of 'shut-up' juice. Absolutely brilliant! posted by aladfar at 9:13 AM on July 31, 2000
Sure, it's fun. Too bad I don't want either one of these guys as my president. posted by tomorama at 9:48 AM on July 31, 2000
The Republicans wanted more WWF wrestlers to appear, but they're all doing temp work this week for the Philly Police...
RIMSHOT!
And The Rock didn't agree to appear until he was assured that the convention would be totally pre-scripted.
RIMSHOT!
There I go, stealing from myself again. posted by wendell at 10:02 AM on July 31, 2000
Remember. Go out and vote this November. Don't vote for anyone who wants the job. Just go out and write-in "The Rock" just for grins. Or "Mr. T" or "Hulk Hogan." It doesn't matter. Write in your favorite brand of Kool-Aid. Get together with your friends and have a party all day. Make an event out of it.
Voting should be fun. It should be an excuse to get rowdy and dangerous. More people would go out and vote then. Just make a point NOT to vote for Bushy or Gorey. They don't need our votes. They already bought their way this far.
The point is to go vote, and be rip-roaring drunk when you do it. posted by ZachsMind at 10:26 AM on July 31, 2000
Oh pooh. "favorite flavor of Kool-Aid" I meant. Too quick on the draw, there.. posted by ZachsMind at 10:27 AM on July 31, 2000
mmmmmmmm.... Ralph Nader kool-aid.... posted by kidsplateusa at 10:55 AM on July 31, 2000
Kind of a Pinkish-Green I think.
Some of us might prefer the Lavendar kind.
(I'm sorry I could not think of a better color, I figured it is what you would get if you mixed Red-white-blue together)
I see that this Rock charcter is on the cover of the newspaper this morning, did he slam the Al doll? Despite my inital desire to watch both parties conventions this year I have quickly decided to slink back into watching neither.
